Thistly Cross Cider
In 2008, an artist and a farmer joined forces in Dunbar to become Scotland’s first cidermaker. Real fruit, hand methods, plenty of maturation time and a few happy accidents create the unmistakably delicious flavour of Thistly Cross cider.
From our cidery in the birthplace of John Muir, in beautiful East Lothian, we produce naturally sweet, handmade cider which is enjoyed and awarded all around the world.
Founder Peter Stuart is still Head Cidermaker, creating a new Scottish cidermaking tradition with creativity and a love of traditional Scottish ingredients and methods.
THE DELICIOUSLY THISTLY DIFFERENCE
Thistly Cross is Scotland’s original – and favourite cidermaker.
Everything we do at Thistly is to ensure we produce fantastic tasting ciders. We pull this off through slow fermentation and long maturation methods. We’re not afraid to take the time required to attain maximum flavour. Every cider we produce has been matured for at least 6 months.
What’s more, using real fruit juice, including hand-pressed apple juice from locally sourced apples, we can achieve Thistly Cross’ signature sweet taste completely naturally!
Our World Cider Award, Whisky Cask, cider is aged in Glen Moray whisky casks, spending over a year maturing from start to finish.
This is Scotland’s original cider. Strong, smooth and fruity, our signature cider from a blend of Scottish apples is where it all began.
We create an infusion from hand-picked British Elderflowers and blend it with our cider for a fabulously fresh and floral flavour.
WORLD’S BEST FLAVOURED CIDER
The perfect marriage between Scottish methods and Scotland’s favourite craft cider. We use Glen Moray Distillery casks to give our cider its warming notes of oak, vanilla and honey.
