ROBERT BOWMAN - Managing Director / Owner
As an undergraduate at Cornell University, Robert began to learn about wine and visited many of the wineries and vineyards in the Finger Lakes region of New York. After graduating from Cornell with an A.B. in English, Robert found himself back in North Carolina working for a regional grocery chain, Lowes Foods. Robert held a variety of Operations, Merchandising and Human Resources positions with Lowes Foods. During his last seven years with the company, Robert managed both the beer and wine categories and was able to significantly increase the company’s market share for both categories within its marketing area. Robert also earned his M.B.A. from Wake Forest University during his time with Lowes Foods.
After leaving Lowes Foods, Robert was recruited by a friend and mentor to join American Premium Beverage (APB) and its operating division, Banks Channel. APB was a large wine and beer distributor located in the center of North Carolina. Banks Channel was developing businesses as a distributor agent in the Caribbean/Latin America as well as a US Importer.
In 2001, Robert along with the friend and mentor who had recruited him, purchased the Banks Channel operating division from APB and made it a stand-alone business. Over the next several years, Robert and his friend created a successful state-wide wine distribution company as well as a successful spirits brokerage company covering all of NC. In 2006, Robert and his friend unwound their partnership, with Robert taking over full ownership of Banks Channel.
In 2017, Robert merged Banks Channel’s Caribbean/Latin American business with Andy Consuegra’s similar business, creating WEBB Banks. Robert managed the integration and coordination of the two distinct businesses over the course of 2017 and in 2018, Andy began to purchase Robert’s ownership interest over time. Robert remains on the WEBB Banks Board.
Today, Robert is the Managing Director and sole owner of Banks Channel and is thrilled to be part of such a vibrant, growing company. Robert is married and has three children.
ROSA M MURPHY - Export Consultant
Rosa was born in Medellin Colombia. After obtaining her undergraduate degree in Medellin, Rosa joined her family business as an Export Administrator. At the age of 23, Rosa moved to the United States where she held a variety of different positions, including: Interpreter, Health Care Recruiter, Human Resource Generalist, and Manager of Compliance for Regulatory and Legal fields.
Rosa’s passion for the wine industry began when a dear friend asked her to learn about the products and the business of Banks Channel, which led her to join Banks Channel as the Sales Manager for Latin America. During her time with Banks Channel, Rosa became an expert in opening new markets for Banks Channel’s products, international logistics, and the complicated compliance issues of selling beverage alcohol products internationally.
Rosa is now working at a high level in Health Care Recruiting, but she still visits with her Banks Channel “family” from time to time. Rosa also assists Banks Channel as a consultant whenever export opportunities present themselves.
Rosa loves community engagement and is an active volunteer in the Winston Salem community. While Rosa is almost always busy, she truly enjoys spending her free time with her family—especially her two daughters and her precious young granddaughter.
LINDA COX-HART - Finance & Operations Manager
Linda was born in the village of Black River, NY. Growing up, Linda often “helped out” in the small grocery store her father owned and she learned a lot about retail during that time.
After graduating from Trinity College, Linda went into banking, first in Burlington, VT and then later, in Los Angeles, CA in a supervisory role for Columbia Savings & Loan. Linda also had an interesting stop in Winston Salem, NC between her time in VT and CA, where she managed a fine wine shop.
After several years of working in banking in Los Angeles, Linda returned to Winston Salem to once again manage the wine shop she had previously managed. While at the wine shop, Linda was recruited by American Premium Beverage (APB) to head up their finance department. Linda came to work for APB and also began to assist the Banks Channel division with their accounting and finance needs.
When Banks Channel was spun off as a separate company, Linda joined Banks Channel full time as the Finance Manager. Linda was a vital resource during the merger of Banks Channel and WEBB. Once that merger was completed, Linda retired in late 2017.
When Banks Channel had an opening for both Finance and Operations in 2020, Linda agreed to come out of retirement and return to Banks Channel—which thrilled all her old coworkers. Linda is a widow who very much enjoys gardening, cooking for family and friends, and going on long walks with her dog. She especially enjoys opportunities to try new and exciting wines.
PETER CLINTON - Director US Sales
As a native of South Africa, Peter grew up in both a wine making and a wine consuming culture. After his mandatory service in the South African military, Peter followed in his father’s footsteps and studied architecture at Wits Technicon in Johannesburg, graduating in 1994.
After graduation, Peter went to work for Little and Associates, an architecture firm in Charlotte, NC. Peter worked at Little and Associates for approximately a year before his passion for food and wine, coupled with his desire to own and operate his own business, led him to search out other opportunities.
Starting from scratch, Peter built a successful US import business, focusing on wines from his native South Africa. Peter was intimately involved in every aspect of his business, learning about all the varied aspects of importing and selling wines in the very complicated US market as he progressively expanded his business.
Peter worked with Banks Channel as a sales consultant during 2011 and agreed to join Banks Channel in January 2012 as the Manager of the US business. Peter is married and lives by the water in the Lake Norman, NC area with his wife and young son, Gabriel. When not busy with work or family, Peter is an avid bicyclist.
STEPHANIE S MOORE - Regional Sales Manager
Stephanie is a North Carolina native who fell in love with the restaurant industry after she finished school. Almost everything about restaurants appealed to Stephanie, from the sales environment to the amazing food to all the incredible people who she soon began to think of as family. Something that especially appealed to Stephanie, though, were the wine programs maintained by fine dining establishments.
After a few years working as a bartender, Stephanie was given the opportunity to manage the beverage programs and bar teams for two high end Italian restaurants with the same owner.
Stephanie left the Italian restaurants to go to work for her primary wine provider, American Premium Beverage (APB). Stephanie managed several high profile on-premise accounts for APB and then did the same for Wisdom Beverage, a state-wide wine distributor created by one of the original APB partners.
After Wisdom Beverage was sold to another NC wine distributor, Stephanie joined Banks Channel. Stephanie lives just outside Winston Salem with her husband, young daughter and two dogs. When she is not busy traveling for work, Stephanie loves to spend time with her large extended family. Stephanie also enjoys reading and enjoying all the natural beauty North Carolina has to offer.
